The U16 program is for 14-15 year old athletes.
U16s compete in a Provincial Open Series consisting of three separate events. Provincial ranking is based on the accumulated results of all these races. This then determines whether racers are selected to compete at the Canadian or Western Championships as well as at Whistler Cup.
Training is primarily on weekends and holidays from early December until mid-April with extended training opportunities on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. At the U16 level there is an increased focus on race readiness and the Super G discipline is introduced in the race series.
Overall, U16 athletes are focused on racing and training as they prepare for future FIS competition. Dryland training takes place throughout the year.
