The U19 FIS program is designed for dedicated athletes who want to pursue alpine ski racing at the highest competitive level. Following the U16 program, athletes may progress into FIS racing and receive an international racer ID through the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS).

At this stage of development, athletes continue to refine their technical skills, race tactics, physical preparation, and mental approach while gaining experience in higher-level competition.

Training includes on-snow development, race preparation, physical conditioning, and opportunities for year-round athlete development. U19 FIS athletes (ages 16–18) may compete in zone, open, national, and international FIS races based on their goals, commitment, and competitive level.

The U19 FIS program requires a significant commitment from both athletes and families. Increased training, travel, and competition schedules may require adjustments to school planning and other commitments.

For athletes who continue beyond U19, the U21 pathway provides further opportunities to pursue provincial or national team programs, university ski opportunities, and continued development as competitive ski racers.

Training Schedule

FIS athletes train up to 5 times per week during the season, Wednesday – Sunday. Depending on race schedules, these training days may be at Red Mountain or at the location of an upcoming race.

All Area Lift Pass

FIS athletes qualify to purchase an ‘All Area Lift Pass’ which will provide lift tickets at all Western Canada resorts for the season, including Red Mountain. For the 2026/27 season, this pass will be $850. The application deadline for this pass is typically the beginning of August.
