U14 Competitive Program

The U14 Competitive Program is designed for athletes aged 12–13 who are ready to build on their ski racing experience through increased training, technical development, and competition.

This program emphasizes strong technical skiing, tactical race skills, athletic development, and a lifelong passion for the sport. While competition becomes more structured, free skiing remains an important part of developing confident, well-rounded athletes.

Program Overview

The U14 Competitive Program focuses on:

  • Advanced technical skill development
  • Increased on-snow training and mileage
  • Tactical race training
  • Age-appropriate physical and mental development
  • Free skiing in a variety of terrain and conditions
  • Progressive competition throughout the season

Training Schedule

The core training schedule takes place on weekends and holidays from early December through mid-April.

Families can choose from three program options:

2-Day Competitive Program

Weekend training focused on technical development and competition.

3-Day Competitive Program

Includes the weekend training schedule plus the opportunity to participate in Friday training sessions when offered.

4+ Day Competitive Program

Includes the weekend training schedule plus the opportunity to participate in Thursday and Friday training sessions when offered.

Thursday and Friday training opportunities are offered throughout the season but are not mandatory. Athletes are encouraged to attend whenever possible to maximize their training and development.

Racing & Competition

U14 athletes compete primarily in Kootenay Zone races, providing excellent competition while keeping travel time and costs manageable for families.

The season concludes with the Provincial U14 Championships and, for eligible athletes, the Whistler Cup.

Dryland Training

Off-season dryland training is offered in the fall in Rossland, with additional training opportunities available throughout the summer.

If you’re unsure whether the U14 program is the right fit for your athlete, please contact the Head Coach to discuss their experience and determine if the program is a good match.
