U16 Competitive Program

The U16 Competitive Program is designed for athletes aged 14–15 who are committed to further developing their ski racing skills through advanced training and provincial-level competition.

As athletes progress through the U16 program, there is an increased emphasis on technical excellence, tactical race preparation, physical conditioning, and independence. The program prepares athletes for future FIS competition while continuing to foster a passion for alpine ski racing.

Program Overview

The U16 Competitive Program focuses on:

  • Advanced technical skill development
  • Tactical race preparation
  • Increased training volume
  • Physical and mental athlete development
  • Super G training and competition
  • Preparing athletes for future FIS racing opportunities

Training Schedule

The core training schedule takes place on weekends and holidays from early December through mid-April.

Families can choose from three program options:

2-Day Competitive Program

Weekend training focused on technical development and competition.

3-Day Competitive Program

Includes the weekend training schedule plus the opportunity to participate in Friday training sessions when offered.

4+ Day Competitive Program

Includes the weekend training schedule plus the opportunity to participate in Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday training sessions when offered.

Midweek training opportunities are offered throughout the season but are not mandatory. Athletes are encouraged to attend whenever possible to maximize their training and development.

Racing & Competition

U16 athletes compete in the BC Alpine Provincial Open Series, which consists of three provincial race events. In addition, athletes can compete in the Western Championships.

At the U16 level, athletes also begin competing in the Super G discipline as part of their race development.

Dryland Training

Year-round dryland training supports athletic development, strength, mobility, balance, and conditioning. Training opportunities are offered throughout the year to help athletes prepare for the ski season and maintain fitness during the off-season.
